  • Holmes celebrate 30th anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. Dennis L. Holmes of New Albany, MS are celebrated their 30th anniversary July 14, 2009.

    Mrs. Holmes is the former Tracy Portis. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes were married July 14, 1979 by Judge Dale Scott in Myrtle.

    Dennis is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Troy L. Holmes of New Albany, MS. Tracy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Portis of New Albany,MS and the late Alma Portis of Memphis, Tenn.

    Mr.and Mrs. Holmes have one son Dennis P.Holmes who is married to the former Anna Kidd. They also have one grandson Hyrum J. Holmes, all of Pontotoc.

  • McClure, White to wed Aug. 1

    Mike and Kathryn McClure of New Albany are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Whitney McClure, to Brock White of New Albany.

    The bride elect is the granddaughter of Louise Owen and the late Rudolph Owen of New Albany and Maxine McClure and the late Verna McClure of New Albany.

    Whitney is a 2006 honor and Hall of Fame graduate of New Albany High School and will graduate from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 2010 with a dental hygienist degree. She is a President’s Scholar and a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

  • Vera Abigail Kirk

    Brandon and Candis Kirk of the Darden Lake community, Miss. are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Vera Abigail Kirk.

    Vera was born at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany on May 16, 2009 at 10:13 p.m. She weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    She is Brandon and Candis’s first child and the granddaughter of Bruce and Deborah Kirk and Mike and Sandra Cooper, all of Cornersville.

  • Callyn Hensley Richardson

    Callyn Hensley Richardson celebrated her first birthday on June 29, 2009 with a watermelon-themed birthday party with family and friends. Callyn is the daughter of Tonya and Eric Richardson of Blue Springs and has two sisters named Lexi and Haley.

    Her grandparents are Bill and Beth O’Callaghan and  Renae O’Callaghan, all of Blue Springs, and Rocky and Becky Richardson of Ripley. Her great-great aunt is Doris Dye of Blue Springs.

    Mike and Lisa Benefield of New Albany are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Amber Michelle Benefield to William Blake Smith of New Albany.

    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Kenneth and Sue McDonald of New Albany and Dwaine and Norma Benefield of Myrtle. She is also the granddaughter of the late Erline Benefield. She graduated from New Albany High School in 2009 and will attend Northeast Mississippi Community College in the fall and major in Business Administration.
