He pushed his way through the door without a knock, ignoring the doorbell. I was braced for his arrival, hoping he would be late this year, but he wasn’t. He had seen the first leaves gather under the cherry tree, heard the turtle doves, and had felt that touch of fall in the air.

The cooler season of the year is getting closer at hand but the heat is still bearing down in the later part of summer.  How the time has been spent is now history and can’t be recalled.  But it will be cooler weather time soon because the time flies by so quickly.  Maybe some mistakes that were made in looking back can be helpful by not repeating them in the time ahead.

Greetings from our hot and dry side of the county. We’ve heard thunder rolling thru the sky several evenings and our eyes would widen with excitement, but thunder was usually all that reached us. The rain would go around or give out before it would reach Endville.

It wasn’t the oppressive August heat that so stifled Sunday morning as I rode to the nursing home. It was knowing what I’d find when I arrived. Mother’s cramped quarters would be much less cramped. Her roommate’s closet would be empty, the bookshelf housing snack containers would be gone along with her books and Bible.

The school bells have rung again and the students had to wake up earlier in the morning.  No sleep ins for the school bus will be on the routes to pick them up for another term and the summer vacation from school has flown by. Time waits for no one as it rolls on from time to time so make good use of it and learn all you can because you are the tomorrow and hopefully some good leaders will develop for the community when the time comes for that.
