    The Sherman Baptist Children’s choir program “Miracle on Main Street - - The Little Pageant that Wouldn’t Give Up” will be Dec. 8, at 6 p.m.

    The Sherman Baptist Church’s goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering is $1,500 for the month of December.

    Sherman’s Christmas parade will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. Former Town Clerk Betty Duke has been named the Grand Marshall of the parade.

    The Sherman police department received two surplus cars from the City of Tupelo. The 1995 and 2007 Crown Vics are in good condition and ready for use.

    The fall harvest for the community for years gone by included cotton with the T. J. Hale Gin being a hub of activity at the intersection of Hwy. 346 and Thaxton Road.  Recently as I drove through the "Nation" at the old "Rabbit Ranch" area there were fields of sweet potatoes being harvested.  The south side of the community is also known as "Who'd A Thought It."

    Karen McMillen is thinking about wrapping her daughter, Jodie, in bubble wrap until Christmas. Jodie fell down some stairs at church and broke her foot.

    Mr. Norris Robertson spent about a week in the New Albany Hospital but has been moved now to Union County Health and Rehab on Bratton Road.  The family is hoping he can gain some strength before going back home.  Mr. Robertson is nursing a broken arm after a nasty fall.

    Good news of the week.  Little Mr. Max Bullock came home this week.  He now weighs four pounds and eight ounces.  He is the son of Jalon and Christy Whiteside Bullock.  Grandparents are Lania and Brenda Bullock and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Whiteside.

  • Birth of Nathan Lee Pounders

    Terri Azlin  and Dustin Kenneth Pounders of Pinedale, Miss., welcomed son Nathan Lee Pounders into the world on September 10, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces and measured 19 1/2 inches long. He was greeted by his brother Jackson Wayne Pounders, 6 years old and his sister Sidney Elizabeth Pounders 11 years old.
