Urchins finish in third for Region 1-2A

East Union’s road in the division tournament pinned both of the Urchins and Lady Urchins against Baldwyn in the semifinals last Thursday. After falling to the Bearcats and Lady Bearcats, East Union played in the consolation games on Friday.
The Lady Urchins were defeated by Baldwyn, 77-46, behind a 32-point performance by Ayana Ragin.
The Lady Bearcats jumped out to an 18-5 lead after the first quarter, opening the game scoring the first 12 points. Ashley Leach led the Lady Urchins with eight points at the break, that saw Baldwyn ahead, 34-21.
Ragin scored 13 points in the third to help extend Baldwyn’s lead in the third quarter.
Jade Anderson finished with 16 points to lead the Lady Urchins, followed by 13 from Leach.
East Union closed out the division tournament with a 58-52 loss to Hamilton on Friday.
The Urchins took a third place finish in the division, holding on for a 47-45 win over New Site in the consolation game on Friday.
East Union landed in the consolation game after an 81-46 loss to Baldwyn on Thursday.
The Bearcats had a big first quarter, going ahead 24-6 behind 10 points from Romaro Crump.
The Urchins opened the 2A north playoffs on Tuesday, traveling to Simmons, and the Lady Urchins’ fell 60-58 against S.V. Marshall in first round action on Monday.
