Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Tiger football team will look to keep its playoff hopes alive on Thursday night, October 28 at Tiger Stadium where they will face off against the 12th ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves.

As the Tigers (5-3, 4-2) prepare for their last regular season game of 2010, they are also preparing for a shot at the playoffs for the first time since 2005.  Even after last week’s loss at Itawamba, Northeast is still in the playoff hunt.  If Northeast can defeat Co-lin on Thursday evening they will remain alive for post season action.

According to the Mississippi Association Community & Junior Colleges (MACJC) Handbook, if the Tigers win; Northwest beats Itawamaba on Thursday night, and East Mississippi downs Holmes, the Tigers will get the number two spot in the north division due to a three way tie breaker scenario.  Northwest will win the north division title with a win in Senatobia.

Defeating Co-Lin, however, will be a difficult feat for Northeast. Co-lin travels to Booneville holding down the number one spot in the south division.  The Wolves overcame East Central Warriors in week eight by pulling off a come-from-behind 42-35 win at home.  Northeast was able to outplay the Warriors back on September 2 in week one when they put up 34 points and only gave up two field goals for a 34-6 win.

Copiah Lincoln (7-1, 5-1) has owned this series winning 14 of the 19 games, but the last time these squads met back in 2004, Northeast beat the Wolves 45-14.

Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Tiger Stadium on Thursday, October 28, and all the action can be seen or heard by logging on to http://www.teamline.cc/teampage?teamcode=1452 (audio only), or by going to http://www.ustream.tv/channel/avs-productions (audio & video).  Fans can also tune into ESPN Radio 96.3 “The Ticket” with the play-by-play airing live at approximately 8 p.m. on the airwaves. The game will be joined “live, already in progress immediately following “Dawgs Talk (The Dan Mullen Show).”
