Reasons to play slowpitch

One topic I'm often asked about is slowpitch softball and if Mississippi should keep the sport alive in its schools. I've heard various opinions both for and against keeping the sport, and several people have directed me to this story from the Clarion Ledger. Take a look and tell me what you think. Should we still play a sport that offers no playing or scholarship opportunities after high school, but has a tremendous turnout every year, or should it be eliminated and give the schools the option of adding volleyball in its place in the fall?
