She has been the leader of the Lady Bulldogs for several years, and she once again proved why in a 64-63 win over North Pontotoc last week.
The senior Dandy Dozen scored 32 points, 35 rebounds in the division win for New Albany, and averages 29 points per game.
“She’s carried us all year long,” New Albany head coach John Stroud said. “Since everyone knows they have to stop her, it’s amazing to see how she’s still putting up the numbers for us, and that’s a testament to her. If she keeps playing like that, we’ll have a good chance to have a good season.”
Playing one of the best games of his career, Hickory Flat senior Jordan Thompson helped lead the Rebels to a 71-62 win over Belmont last week.
Shooting 8-of-12 from the floor and 12-of-16 from the free throw line, Thompson finished with 28 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three steals, and on defense, held Belmont’s leading scorer to single digits.
“Jordan played the best game of his career,” Rebels coach Michael Seger said. “Last season he was largely overlooked because he was our ‘glue’ guy; he did all of the little things that get no recognition. This year, he’s had to be the man as the only senior on a young team. He’s still doing the dirty work while leading us in scoring, rebounding and minutes played.”
