Roy Hill, 83
Roy H. Hill, 83, died Friday Oct. 2, 2009 at the North Ms Medical Center in Tupelo.
He was born in Union County on Feb. 23, 1926, to the late Virgil Eugene Hill and Maude Foremen Hill
He was a retired factory worker from Mohasco and a farmer. He loved fishing and hunting and doing garden work. He was a member of The Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
His services were Sunday Oct. 4, 2009 at 3 p.m. in the United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Don Wilson and Bro. Jimmy Porter officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. United Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Speck Hill of New Albany; one daughter Rita Ligon (Wayne) of New Albany; two sons, Larry Hill (Anita) of Red Bay, Ala. And Kenny Hill (Linda) of Oxford; two brothers, Norman Hill and Glen Hill, both of New Albany; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Five brothers, Noel, Earl, Floy, Jamie, and Paul Hill, and one Grandson Patrick Hill.
Pallbearers were Barry Ligon, Jason Ligon, Jonathan Hill, Andrew Hill, Nathan Hill, and Brad Hill. Visitation was Friday at the funeral home,

Minnie Gunter, 98
Minnie Lee Gunter, 98, of Hickory Flat, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Sunshine Inn Assisted Living Home in Myrtle. She was born October 19, 1910 in Union County to the late William Albert and Mary Robertson Smith. Mrs. Gunter retired after thirty-five years of service from the Irwin B. Schwabe Co. She was a member of the Church of Christ and loved gardening.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 at United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Ray Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Flat Rock Cemetery in Benton County. United Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Thomas Gunter, and her brothers and sisters.
Visitation was Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Charlene McGill, 78
Charlene Ash McGill, 78, of New Albany, died at her residence on Thursday Oct. 1, 2009.
She was born in Marshall county on July 20, 1931 to the late James Guy Ash and Mary Birdie Simmons Ash. She received her B. A. Degree from the University of Mississippi and was a School teacher, and had also worked in Quality Control for Blue Bell in Baldwyn. She was a member of the American Angus Association and showed and raised cattle. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Baldwin, Ms. and affiliate member of The First United Methodist Church in New Albany.
Her services were Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Leslie Nabors and Bro. Barry Male officiating. Interment was in the Lebanon cemetery. United Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas McGill of New Albany; two sisters, Sidney G. Pipkin of Blue Mountain and Christine Hatchett (Hugh) of Waterford; two half sisters, Sue Bolden and Bonnie Ash; seven half brothers, Gene Ash, Lonnie Ash, Ricky Ash, Henry Ash, Danny Ash, Jacky Ash, and Michael Ash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Wilfred Ash, James G. Ash Jr., Russell Ash, and Cecil C. Ash; and two sisters Stanley Fesmire and Irene Lawrence.
Pallbearers were Kevin Taylor, Ronnie Ash, Charles E. (Eddie) Ash, Shane Gray, Eddie Lawton, Jimmy Pipkin, Mitchell Davis and Mitchell Watson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.

Lee Roy Guyton, 89, of Memphis, Tenn., died Oct. 2, 2009, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at West Tennessee Veteran Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday at M.J. Edwards Whitehaven Chapel, 5494 Elvis Presley Blvd.
