Mary Herod, 60
Mary Frances “Sis” Wilhite Herod, FNP, BC, 60, of Blue Springs, died Tuesday, September 29. 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center.
A Union County native, she was born November 7, 1948 to Robert Thomas (Jack) and Ella Mae Cook Wilhite. After graduating from Ingomar High School in 1967 she attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and Mississippi University for Women where she received her Masters in Nursing.
She was a Nurse Practitioner at Lower Crossing Medical Clinic in Sherman. She had served her community as a health care provider for over 35 years in the areas of hospice care, home health, geriatrics and diabetic care.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, compassionate sister, comforting aunt, and caregiver to countless citizens. She was an active member of the Ellistown Baptist Church
Services were Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at 2 p.m. at United Funeral Service’s chapel with the Rev. Mike Powell and Rev. Chad Roberts officiating. Interment was the Martin Cemetery. United Funeral Service in New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband Charles Herod, Jr. of Blue Springs; a son Chad Herod (Lyndie) of New Albany; 3 grandchildren Alee Nichols, Hope Herod, and Jaxon Herod all of New Albany; 4 brothers Boyd Wilhite (Helen), Loyd Wilhite, Johnny “Cotton” Wilhite, and Tommy Wilhite (Debbie) all of New Albany; a sister Dorothy Rooker of Ecru. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Christi Nichols, her parents, and two brothers Lavon Wilhite, and Bobby Wilhite, a nephew Ryne Wilhite, and a sister-in-law Dot Wilhite.
Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Wilhite, Jerry Wilhite, Jeff Lyons, Kenny Dowdy, Rayf Clark, Ricky Taylor, Mitchell Stout, Eric Dyar, Kevin Little, Cal Walls, Jason Willis, and Mike Speicher.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, New York 10005.
Visitation was Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Westmoreland, 29
Amanda Turner Westmoreland, 29, of Tupelo, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at her residence. A Tupelo native, she was born Aug. 6, 1980, to Paul Edward and Marketta James Turner. She loved her three sons and spending time with her family.
Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Paul Stupka officiating. Interment was in Longview Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Jonathan Westmoreland of Tupelo; her three sons, Boston Jude Turner, Hayden Elijah Turner and Dylan Isaiah Turner, all of the home; her parents, Paul E. and Marketta Turner of Pontotoc; four sisters, Layla Murphree (Danny), Sara Turner, Anna Turner and Cara Turner, all of Pontotoc; four brothers, Paul Turner Jr. (April) of Tupelo, and James Turner, John Turner and Joseph Turner, all of Pontotoc; one sister-in-law, Rachel Westmoreland of Pontotoc; two brothers-in-law, Jody Westmoreland (Brandi) of Ecru and Ethan Westmoreland of Pontotoc; her in-law, Dennis and Jill Westmoreland of Pontotoc.
Pallbearers were Ricky Smith, Nickey Smith, Jody Westmoreland, Ethan Westmoreland, Cody Rainer Danny Murphree.
Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charlie Hodges, 50
Charlie Ray Hodges, 50, of Beloit, Wisc., died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, in Oxford.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Daley-Murphy-Wish & Associates. Interment will be in Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit. Serenity Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sherman Grove M.B. Church in Sherman.
Robert Warren, 57
Robert Dean Warren, 57, of Hurricane, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was a retired diesel mechanic. He enjoyed playing his guitar.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with J.W. Owen Jr. and Bill Thompson officiating. Interment was in Sand Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughter, Marcie Dawn Warren White and husband, Dustin; his parents, Bob Warren and JoLane Warren; and his brother, Mike Warren and wife, Judy.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Warren Jr.
Pallbearers were Chance Graham, Chris Russell, Jeff Shettles, Mike Spears, Mark Wood and Wayne Wood. Honorary pallbearers were Jacky Bramlitt, Johnny Bramlitt, Tommy Cobb and Jerry Short.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the Sand Springs Cemetery Fund or the Warren Cemetery Fund.
Kathy Alexander, 55
Kathy Ruth Alexander, 55, of Beacon Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 after a long illness. She attended Blue Springs Baptist Church. She loved tending to her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.
A memorial service was at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Blue Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Neil Davis officiating. Kesler Funeral Home of Baldwyn was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammie Hall of Myrtle and Mary Page (William) of Keownville; one son, Tommy Miller of Beacon Hill; two sisters, Shirley Allen (Bill) of Blue Springs and Charlene Matkins (Harold) of North Haven; one brother, Jimmy Garrett of Beacon Hill; seven grandchildren, Ashley Hall, Devin Page, Dustin Page, Summer Miller, Victoria Allred, Heather Grace Miller and Jasemine Miller; a host of nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Kathy McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R.V. “Bozo” Garrett and Annie Ruth Garrett; a niece, Amanda Fredrickson; and her grandparents, Auther and Luvenia Garrett, and Jim and Claudie Davis.
