Katie Sanders

Katie Mae Sanders of New Albany, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. 

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Beasley Funeral Home.

 

Lois Harris, 75

Lois Butler Harris, 75, of Myrtle, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Graceland Care Center in New Albany. She was born Oct. 22, 1933, in Coffeeville to Albert Butler and Mittie Reynolds Butler. She was a retired factory worker for Mohasco and a member of Temple Baptist Church in Myrtle. She loved her many travels with Barkley Travel Service and her friend, Mrs. Jerry Simmons.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009, at United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Donnie Schuman officiating. Interment was in Glenfield Memorial Park.  United Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Stewart and Sandra Thompson (Mike) of Myrtle; one son, Chuck Harris (Brenda) of New Albany; four sisters, Earlene Reed of New Albany, Ollie Bell Floyd of Myrtle, Mary Lee Reed of Mount View, Ark., and Jerald Dean Lucas of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Robert Butler and Carl Butler of Myrtle; a special sister-in-law, Jolene Potts; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Cleo Harris; a sister, Flora Mae Reed; an infant sister; and a brother, James Butler; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were  Chad White, Mickey Stewart, Dalton Harris, Austin Harris, Danny Floyd, Mike Potts, Matt Potts and Mark Potts.

Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, 1025 North Street, Myrtle MS 38652.

Glenda Aldridge, 69

Glenda Wheeler Aldridge, 69, of Baldwyn, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at her home in the Ingram community after a long illness. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Ingram Baptist Church. She enjoyed crosswords puzzles, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at Waters Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Futral and Dr. Christopher Aldridge officiating. Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Monday at Lee Memorial Park with Dr. David Hamilton officiating.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Bobby Aldridge of Baldwyn; two sons, Ricky Aldridge (Susan) of Mechanisville, Md., and Dr. Christopher Aldridge (Julie) of New Albany; a brother, Billy Fred Wheeler (Edna) of Verona; six grandchildren, Jennifer Guy (Gary), Kristin Aldridge, Zachary Aldridge, Gavin Aldridge, Ryan Aldridge and Caden Aldridge; great-grandchildren, Grace Madison Guy and Olivia Faith Guy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mattie Glen Wheeler.

Pallbearers were Gavin Aldridge, Joel Aldridge, Gary Guy, John Ligon, Phil Wheeler, Mark Aldridge and Ryan Aldridge. Honorary pallbearers were members of her Sunday School class.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Alice Johnson

Alice Johnson, of Milwaukee, formerly of New Albany, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in Wisconsin. 

Interment will be Wednesday, July 3, 2009 in the Shiloh Cemetery. Beasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her nieces.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

 

Bon Jean 

Caldwell, 83

Bon Jean Caldwell, 83, of New Albany, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Graceland Care Center in Pontotoc. She was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Union County to Joel Anderson Wood and Lillie Purvis Wood. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Hopewell ARP Church.

Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Billy Lee Foley and Bro. Dan Hazen officiating. Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery.

Survivors include a sister, Lucille Dowdy (Van) of Pontotoc; nieces, Barbara Wood Bullock of New Albany, Judy Dowdy Cobb (Hilton) of Pontotoc and Dr. Carla Caldwell Stanford (Allen) of New Albany; nephews, Larry Wood (Brenda) of New Albany, Dwight Wood (Barbara) of Blue Springs and Jeff Dowdy of Pontotoc; several great- and great-great-nieces and great- and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James T. Caldwell; her brothers, Truitt Wood, Marvin F. Wood and Purvis Wood.

Pallbearers were  Chris Bullock, John Bullock, Joey Wood, Kevin Wood, Will Stanford, Zack Cobb and Josh Dowdy.

Alfred Morrisson, 93

Alfred Irvin Morrisson, 93, of Etta, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Arlington, Tenn., to Irvin Bailey Morrisson and Madge Stringfellow Morrisson. He was a professional bird dog trainer and a member of Salem United Methodist Church. An avid reader, he loved poetry and literature, and enjoyed bird hunting. He loved his family.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Salem United Methodist Church in Etta with Bro. Bill McAlilly and Bro. Kyle Ivy officiating. Interment was in the Morrisson Family Cemetery in Etta. United Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Boyer (Mike) of Marietta, Ga., and Joan Nickels of Thayer, Mo.; three sons, Robert Morrisson (Linda) of Marietta, Ga., Jerry Morrisson (Sue) of Etta and Phillip Morrisson (Carla) of Etta; two sisters, Thelma Ragland of Memphis and Velma Bryant of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Roy Morrisson of Arlington, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Kim Prado (Rob), Laura Morrisson, Beth Corey (Cannon), Jonathan Morrisson (Stacy), Jamie Mills (Mark), Ben Morrisson (Penny), Zach Morrisson, Randy Morrisson, Jenna Morrisson, Kathryn Neidhart (Chris) and Julie Nickels; eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sylvia Olene Long Morrisson; his son, Jim Morrisson; four brothers and one sister; two grandchildren, Jennifer Elizabeth Morrisson and Melanie Flynn.

Pallbearers were  his grandchildren.

Visitation continued until service time Saturday at the church.
