Jones "Joe Scooter" Williamson, of New Albany, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at his home.

Majorie Foster 

Fenel, 60

Majorie Fenel, 60, of New Albany died June 17, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County. She was born on November 1, 1948 in Hickory Flat to Richard Foster and Joeann Wilson Foster.  

Services were at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Greater new Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Christopher Smith. Internment was at Foster's Cemetery in Hickory Flat, MS. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of arrangements.

Majorie leaves loving memories with her daughter, Belinda Foster of Chicago; siblings, Benny (Tracy) Foster and William (Daisey) Foster of New Albany; Anthony (Ann) Foster of Detroit, MI;  Joseph Foster of Texas; Ozella (W.C.) Foster of Memphis; two grandchildren; one great grandchild. 

Visitation was on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Chapel in New Albany.

 

Shirley Faye 

Foster King, 47

Shirley King, 47, of New Albany, died June 18, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County. She was born on May 20, 1962 in New Albany to Marry Riddle Foster and the late Willie Foster. 

Services were at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Palestine M.B. Church in Blue Mountain, MS with Rev. Patrick Washington. Internment was at the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley King leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Charles King; mother, Mary Foster; children, Charlessa (Clifford) McKenzie and Charles Terrell King; sisters, Pat (Robert) Finley and Angela Foster; brothers, Marvin Foster and James Foster, both of New Albany and Don (Cindy) Foster of Bartlette, TN.

Visitation was on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Chapel in New Albany. 

 

Jeffery Clay 

Stanford, 48

Jeffery Stanford, 48, of Guntown, MS, died June 17, 2009 at North MS Medical Center. He was born on July 15, 1960 in New Albany to the late Luther Clay Stanford Rubye Louise Chism Lockhart.

Services were at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Serenity Chapel in New Albany. Internment was at Westminister Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ripley. Serenity Funeral Home in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by daughter, Samantha Nichole Stanford; grandson, Jackson Andrew Sibley of New Albany; sisters, Cynthia Lynne Stanford Smith, Patricia Eileen Bishop Gresham and Gwendolyn Louise Bishop Dulaney; brothers, Algin Thomas Bishop, James Allen Bishop and Robert Edward Bishop.

Visitation was on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Serenity Chapel in New Albany.

 

John D. Evans, 51

John Evans, 51, of Tupelo, MS, died June 15, 2009 at Sanctuary Hospice House Tupelo. He was born June 18, 1957 in Ripley, MS to Verlena Evans Hardin and the late Ellis Buger. 

Services were at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Moses Chapel in Ripley, MS Internment was at Boyd's Cemetery in Ripley. Serenity Funeral Home in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.

He leaves cherished memories with his mother, Verlena Hardin of New Albany, siblings, William Mose Jr. of Racine, WI, Casey Cox, Frankie Lee Cox and Charles (Jimmeal) Cox, all of Memphis, TN, Elick Cox of Tallahassee, FL, Stone Cox of Corinth, MS, Eric Cox, James Cox and Joe Cox, all of Ripley, Angie Bardina Cox of Tupelo, MS, and Lena Mae (Larry) Spight of New Albany.

Visitation was on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Serenity Chapel in New Albany. 

 

B.C. Brooks, 77

 New Albany-Bernard C. “B.C.” Brooks, 77, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Union County Baptist Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.  B.C. Was born on April 6, 1932 in Glendale, KY to Charles Wayne and Mary Edna Brooks.  He was most recently a member of Wallerville Baptist Church, and served many years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, church leader at Hillcrest Baptist Church.  He was also a Mason.  He was retired from Master Bilt, and a retired building contractor.  He was a Navy veteran having served as a SeaBee during the Korean War from 1950-1954.  He faithfully served his Lord, his country, church and family.  When he was able he was an active church leader and worker in his yard and garden.  He loved the outdoors, and feeding his ducks.  In his latter years he enjoyed his retirement and spent hours in his porch swing.

Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at United Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Dean Timbes and Rev. Horace Thomas officiating.  Interment was at the Glenfield Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years Carolyn Sanford Brooks of New Albany; 1 daughter Kim Moorman (Bobby) of New Albany; 1 son Tony Brooks (Gay) of New Albany; 4 grandchildren: Noah Brooks, Jana Brooks, Tyler Moorman all of New Albany, and Angela Broaddrick (Gerald) of Hamilton, AL; his mother-in-law Wordia Sanford; brother-in-law Larry Sanford (Janie); special friends Leo and Alice Newton of Louisville, KY.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law Merle Sanford of New Albany.           

Pallbearers were Rueben Beaty, Lannia Bullock, Tommy Henderson, Morris Jarvis, Bim Sloan, Larry Sanford, Dr. Tim Thompson, and Dewitt Wilder.  Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School class at Wallerville.

Visitation was from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 at the funeral home.

 In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Children’s Fund at Wallerville or the Gideon’s International.
