“Music and Memories” is the theme for the annual Northeast Mississippi Community College Jazz Band Dinner, set for Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m. in the Claude Wright Room of the Haney Union on the Booneville campus.
The show is designed to take the audience back to a exciting time in history by featuring performances of chart-topping tunes such as How High the Moon, A Night in Tunisia, Pick Up the Pieces, Malaguena, Chameleon and Summertime.
According to Northeast’s assistant director of bands and jazz band director Jason Beghtol, “We are planning to take it up a notch again this year by featuring many of the up tempo, dance hits that symbolized popular music in the pre-rock and roll era, and we will, of course, treat everyone to a first class dining experience.”
Both the Northeast Chamber Choir and jazz trombonist Ron Wilkins of San Antonio (pictured), Texas will perform again this year.
Tickets are $20 and include a plated meal and the program. Reservations should be made in the Northeast Business Office in Stringer Hall by Friday, March 4. Seating is limited. For phone orders with a credit card, call (662)720-7340. Mail-in orders need to be sent to Office of the President, Northeast Mississippi Community College, Booneville, MS 38829.
