NAHS powerlifting teams compete in local competitions, prepare for regionals

The NAHS Boys Powerlifting team finished 3rd at the North Pontotoc Invitational recently.  Overall winners were:

The girls team competed at Oxford High last Friday, January 30. The Lady Bulldogs finished in 3rd place. Overall winners were:

Kierra Clay       1st        148

Markia Potts     2nd       220+

Martia Potts      3rd       220+

Laquinta Jones  3rd       220

Sarah Manning  3rd       123

Both of the squads are currently in preparation for the state competition.

The first step to state for the boys will be on February 13 with the regional competition. From there, the top four finishers in each weight class will move on to compete in the North Half championships on March 6th.

The State championships will take place on April 4th.

On the girls side, there is no regional competition, and the Lady 'Dawgs will next compete at Desoto Central High School during the first week in March.

This is only the second year of the powerlifting program for NAHS, and Coaches  Ron Price and Jay Cosseyhope for another good showing this year.
