NAHS golf wins district, advances to state tourney

New Albany High's golf team once again claimed division titles and are now preparing for the state tournament in Jackson.

The boys won their third title in a row, defeating Hernando, Pontotoc, Oxford and Center Hill. Below are the scores.

New Albany 321 1st place

Austin Holt 82, Tucker Holmes 78, Sam Cooper 78, Laden Stanford 83 and Blake Conlee 97.

Hernando 345, 2nd place - qualified for state as a team.

Trey Howell 82, Sam Anglin 84, Dylan Baskins 91, Austin Duykers 88 and John Michael Little 93.

Pontotoc 416- Clif Hanna 74 qualified for state as an individual, Paul Furr 130, Aaron Tutor 119, Justin Jensen 107 and Dustin Jensen 116.

Oxford 387- Sam Morrison 97, Jimmy Hourin 94, Sam Guest 93, Ryan York 113 and Ethan Holmes 103.

Center Hill 350- Justin Jones 78, qualified for state as an individual, Garrett Jones 81, Blair Johnston 96, Nick Kennedy 95 and Austin Merryman 114.

The girls fell short to Tupelo for the district title, but still qualify for the state tournament next week. Below are the results from girls competition.

New Albany 203  2nd place- Haley Berryhill 101, Jenna Davis 102 and Summer Sanderson 112.

Tupelo 194 1st place - Caitlin Lesley 102, Alex Porter 92 and Kathleen Reynolds 116.

Saltillo Girls 221- MacKenzie Koehn 100, Miranda Chapman129 and Charlotte Crooks 121.

Starkville Girls 223- Paige Watson 108 and Savannah Hobart 115.

Pontotoc Girls 241- Katherine Kenney 112, Forrest McCullar 129 and Lindsay Cruse 163.

Individuals- Kaitlyn Cochran 116 and Kellie Skinner 111, both of New Albany.

The girls will be at Patrick Farms Golf Course in Brandon on May 4-5, with the boys following in competition later that week.
