The City of New Albany has proposed a budget for the coming fiscal year that would increase overall spending by 5.6 percent and provide most city employees with a 3 percent salary increase.
The preliminary figures were presented during a public hearing on the budget proposal Tuesday at the meeting of the New Albany Board of Aldermen.
The city also has forecast an increase in revenue of 5.6 percent. The bulk of the revenue increase would come from increased use of electricity, the state sales tax and a smaller amount from an increase in revenue from the tourism tax.
