Two games stand in between the Bulldogs and the start of division play, and New Albany will look to start a new winning streak, traveling to Corinth on Friday.
“We still want to work on eliminating turnovers, and we’re getting better with that,” head coach Ron Price said. “The only one we had last week was late in the game when the game was under control. The first few games, we were turning the ball over more than we needed to.”
Bouncing back against Amory last week, senior Terrance Riles said the team has worked mostly on staying focused not only in game, but beginning at practice throughout the week.
“I think the loss showed us we’re not invincible; we can lose, and we took the loss,” Riles said. “We bounced back, so we’re working toward being more focused and prepared each week.”
Price noted two players in particular to look for Friday night - Corinth’s Debrico and Kyoshi Agnew. Also he talked about the continuing growth of the defense and their focus on tackling in practice this week.
“On film, we missed a lot of tackles last week, so we’ve worked on that,” he said. “We just need to keep fine tuning things, and the more we play, the more confidence we’ll build as a football team. We keep moving in the right direction, we’ll be in good shape when we line up against Senatobia in division play at the end of the month.”
When the ‘Dawgs line up on Friday, they are expecting another physical match-up in non-division play.
“We’ve got to play hard because they’re going to be physical on both offense and defense. We need to be more focused in practice and keep working hard every week.”
Friday’s game is set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Corinth.
