Myrtle man dead in Etta accident

A Myrtle man was killed in a one-car accident Tuesday afternoon in the Etta Community.

Joann Foreman was transported to the Med in Memphis after a Tuesday afternoon accident on CR 130 in Etta. Her husband, Jimmy, died at the scene.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said that Jimmy Foreman, 59, of County Road 130, was traveling south on Highway 355 when he lost control of his car and it flipped into a ditch.

Foreman died at the scene of the accident, according to Union County Coroner Mark Golding.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m.

Foreman’s spouse, Joann Foreman, who was a passenger in the car at the time, was transported to the Med in Memphis, Tenn. by a Flightwing helicopter.

Edwards said that the Mississippi Highway Patrol was in charge of the investigation, since the accident occurred on a state highway.

The patrol said neither Foreman nor his spouse was wearing a seat belt.
