MHSAA considers changes to basketball playoff format

Recently, the Mississippi High School Activities Association made an initial vote to change the current format for the basketball playoffs.
For the last few years, only two teams from the north and south have advanced to the state tournament, which is always held at Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
Under the proposed plan, not only would the number of teams expand, but also an additional venue will be added. The MHSAA has not specified how many teams would be added to the state tournament, but this will definitely serve as a plus, if it does go into effect next year.
