Ingomar, Hickory Flat fall in first round action

Offensive struggles hurt the Lady Falcons in their first round series, as they lost at Wheeler, 6-0, 12-0, on Tuesday.
Ingomar recorded only six hits in two games, a strife that advanced Wheeler to the second round.
“In slow pitch, totaling only six hits in two games is not going to cut it,” Lady Falcon head coach Andy Wilbanks said.
“We never had a runner reach third, and it was just an overall offensive struggle for us,” he said.
Wheeler advances to play Myrtle, who defeated them in 2009 to advance to the north half championship.
“Wheeler’s a good team, and much credit to them with their effort,” Wilbanks said.
Ingomar finishes the season at .500, a good ending for a young squad.
“We finished at .500, so in hindsight it was a successful season,” Wilbanks said. “Considering how we started the year, we were able to put together a good finish.”
Wheeler will next travel to Myrtle on Saturday in second round action.
Hickory Flat also fell on the road in their playoff series, losing 11-1 and 7-0 at Mantachie.
The Lady Rebels had an early advantage with an RBI single in the first inning of game one, but the Lady Mustangs shut down Hickory Flat’s offense the remainder of the series, advancing to play Eupora in the second round of the playoffs.
