Our 46-year-old house in Florence, Ala., has been a great house, and we’ve really enjoyed living there. It’s got a lot of space, a sunroom where we can watch the birds, rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks, lots of trees and bulb-filled flower beds.
But like any older house, it has its share of little flaws and idiosyncrasies.
Some are because building standards change over time and what was acceptable in 1964 isn’t the way to do things in 2010.
