Ingomar and West Union faced off in more than just baseball last week, as both schools sent teams for the boys and girls state tournaments in the Jackson area.
The 1A-3A girls tournament was held last Monday and Tuesday, with West Union being the only team from the north in the five-team competition. Also competing as an individual was Molly Hale of Ingomar.
With the 2009 season being the first for an all-girls team at West Union, coach Alex Scrimpshire was hoping for his team to gain experience, as two of the three members have only played since January.
