East Union picked up its 10th win of the season, defeating county rival Myrtle 10-2 last Thursday.
Five Lady Urchins had multiple hits in the win, starting with a two RBI triple by Ashley Leach in the first inning.
Down 3-0 in the bottom of the third, the Lady Hawks cut the deficit to one before East Union had back-to-back three-run innings, capped by a home run from Britney Pruett in the third.
Mallory Roberts improved to 10-2 on the year, allowing only the two runs in the second frame. Leach, Pruett, Heather Dillard, Alie Haynie and Callie Joe Winters each had multiple hits, including triples by Leach and Winters. Chelsea Kuhn also had an RBI triple in the fourth inning for East Union.
The Lady Urchins will play at North Pontotoc and Walnut this week before playing in the Union County Tournament this Saturday, where they will look to defend their 2009 title.
Leah Paige Goolsby guided the Lady Eagles to their first two division wins of the season, defeating H.W. Byers in a doubleheader, 19-3 and 14-2.
The senior had multiple hit games, both of which included a at least one double and triple.
In the first game, West Union had 15 hits, scoring six runs in the second and nine in the fourth. Goolsby had four hits, three triples and a double, while Gina Beth Conlee, Danielle Taylor, Bailey Bogue and Britany Whittington each had multiple hits.
West Union produced 10 more hits in their second game, with Bogue notching two hits and Goolsby three.
West Union will play at Blue Mountain and Pine Grove on Thursday and host Myrtle on Friday before playing in the Union County Tournament this Saturday.
