County prepares for basketball season

-A A +A

The sudden injection of free time in my schedule means one thing; I’m in between seasons, and a new sport is about to start.
Beginning tomorrow, I’ll start running around with basketball, and while Saturday only features preseason jamboree games, it will still be a good time for fans to come out and get a first look at their respective teams for the new season.
Speaking of basketball, I’ve worked over the last two weeks on the next sports preview, completing that today. There’s a lot of excitement building around the county with plenty of potential from several young teams.
The county graduated a lot of talent last year, but I wouldn’t be too discouraged with the up-and-coming athletes. Also, four of the five schools in the county will have a new coach over at least one of its programs, and there’s a lot to look forward to there as well.
I also made a stop at New Albany soccer, where the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs are hoping to build on their respective playoff runs. Also boasting a new coach, I think there will be plenty of excitement surrounding that sport as well in the coming months.
The winter sports preview will be in the Gaette on Wednesday, Nov. 7, so keep that date in mind. I’m pleased with the results of this section, and I thank Myrtle for its help, allowing me to use the court for the cover photo. It’s difficult to come up with something different that also looks good, and I think this is one of the better cover photos I’ve shot in the last year.
I have one more week before the start of the regular season for basketball, so in the meantime, I’m going to keep on enjoying football...and my free time.
