New Albany Middle School's 6th, 7th, and 8th grade gifted students made aluminum foil vessels to better understand the theories of density, buoyancy, & water displacement. Using the concepts she learned at the MDOT's R.I.D.E.S program, teacher Tracy Vainisi led her students through the scientific process. Using theories of Archimedes and observation, students broke up into teams to see if they could create a vessel that would float and carry at least 30 glass beads.
