Curt Fowler will be at the helm of the newly added Toppers baseball program at Blue Mountain College, the school announced May 22.
In a press release by BMC, the school talked about their plans to add both baseball and softball starting in the 2010-2011 school year.
“Blue Mountain College is so pleased to expand the Intercollegiate Athletics Program to include baseball and softball,” said Dr. Bettye Rogers Coward, BMC president. “The College is fortunate to have secured the services of coaches with the character and expertise that Curt Fowler and Kevin Barefield bring to the program."
Fowler has a career record of 181-105 and coached at Potts Camp for three years and has been with New Albany since 2001.
"As a coach, this has always been my dream to coach at the college level," Fowler said. "I already dread leaving New Albany next year because I've grown up here, but this is an opportunity of a lifetime."
Recruiting will be Fowler's main focus over the next year for the Toppers.
"I have some kids I'm meeting with, and we're looking at as many junior college kids as possible so we can be competitive," Fowler said. "Recruiting will be my main duty over the next year."
Fowler will remain with the Bulldogs through the 2010 season.
