The New Albany Gazette, founded in 1889, has been the dominant source for news, sports and other information about New Albany and Union County, Miss., for more than a century.

Through the years, ownership of the Gazette passed through a number of individuals and families before being purchased by Landmark Community Newspapers in 1981from William Rutledge III. The Gazette moved into its current building at 713 Carter Ave., New Albany, in 1974.

The Gazette maintains the only full-time news staff in Union County and is the only newspaper printed in the county. Gazette publications reach every household in Union County by mail each week. The newspaper is published on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Gazette Guide, an advertising-only publication, is mailed on Wednesdays.

The Gazette strives to live up to its motto, "Quality and integrity in all that we do," and, in 2010, was named the best non-daily newspaper in its size category by the Mississippi Press Association.

New Albany Publishing Co., which publishes the Gazette, also publishes Explore magazine, an annual tourism publication; the Gazette Guide, a mailed total saturation product; Mississippi Homes, a monthly real estate guide, and The Advertiser, a classified advertising product sold in 11 Mississippi counties. The company operates a commercial web printing facility.
